A TOAST TO THE SUN FOR MY BELOVED DAUGHTER

Life gave me a precious gift when Laura took her first step. You were small as a flower; today, you light up everything around me. Time passes, and now you are grown— a beautiful light wherever you go. Your smile is my greatest treasure, a pure radiance worth its weight in gold. Eighty years have come and gone; the wind blows in my favor. I celebrate this moment today, surrounded by pure love. My daughter Laura has prepared such a beautiful celebration; she has brought our past together, and life is sweet as roses. My schoolmates— friends I’ve loved since we were kids. The mountains are a shared privilege; companions through a thousand rivers. My colleagues from work— good, genuine people— all paying tribute to my long journey. Thank you, my dear daughter, for your hands, for weaving this joy for me, and for bringing my siblings together for my eightieth birthday.
